Global Retail Activation Lead

Start: ASAP
Length: 3-6 Months
Location: Aldwych, London
Pay: £350PD

This role will lead all retail activation activity on a global basis for my client and the markets it operates within – currently UK, Ireland, North America (US and Canada), Italy and France with other European markets on the 2018/19 roadmap.

Retail activation encompasses all trade and consumer account activity across the global including POS development, events, innovations to demonstrate the capability of the smart home in a B2C environment, within a highly competitive landscape where we are often competing for space. You will understand innately how to generate activity that stands out and can communicate brand USPs in a clear and compelling fashion.

The retail channel comprises over 30 accounts on a global basis and represents an exciting area of growth for my client, in the UK alone the channel has grown by 26% YoY and has further potential to expand further. This role is pivotal to the success of that journey and will directly support business objectives of driving sales and revenue across each of our territories, and managing the team who support you in delivering all activity within this channel

• To create best in class consumer brand experiences through the use of activation at trade and retail consumer events
• To create buzz and excitement in all territories for the brand in the retail environment.
• Accountable for developing and delivering the global retail (inc e-tail) marketing plan
• Directly leading larger accounts with the biggest strategic imperative, and setting global best practice for your team
• Oversees Retail and Events marketing delivery through your team, covering conferences, exhibitions, in store events and promotions
• Supports the Commercial team in delivering the Retail roadmap, including partner onboarding, POS refreshes, Retailer management
• Accountable for day-to-day agency management on the design and production of physical and digital assets.
• Proactively establish, develop and maintain collaborative relationships directly with retailer partners to maximise customer opportunities and wider sales initiatives. Key activities include digital/web comms and in-store POS and tactical promotional opportunities.
• Collaborate with Customer Operations team on retailer and event training activities.

Competencies and Qualifications
• Must have extensive Retail Marketing (10+ years) including digital e-tail and events experience ideally working for a global brand and comfortable at working on a global level
• Commercial awareness of how retail works in the UK but also in Europe and North America – you will have worked in a Global Marketing Environment
• Budget management. Responsible but not accountable for a budget of between £1-3M
• People Management. This role looks after 2 direct reports
• Collaboration internally as well as with external agency partners and retailers
• Excellent communication skills including written and verbal and a strong presenter
• Comfortable with juggling a high workload
