Product Director / Head of Product sought for a global online Media brand in central London.
Great opportunity for a driven and commercially focused Product Director / Head of Product with an excellent strategic track record to join this renowned name in media/publishing.
You will lead products for my clients retail businesses. These includes an essential planning tool used by FMCGs/consultancies to understand macro trends, an events to subscription content to market intelligent sets of products focused on the UK a global retail event)
This is a comprehensive product role where you will own the product vision (who is the product for/what problem does it solve/why is it worth solving/how should it be packaged, priced and positioned), the customer experience, roadmap prioritisation and also forming the business plan and the associated investment case across the products.
My client believes that there is a significant opportunity to develop the retail product portfolio (organically and inorganically) and wishes to bring a set of data-driven intelligence products to market. You will make this happen, as well as transitioning the current portfolio to a more ‘mature’ set of operating standards.
You will have extensive experience in developing and scaling (£20M+) customer-led products with data/information/analytics at their heart. This could have been obtained in other information service businesses/SaaS subscription businesses. B2B experience desirable but not essential. Retail experience desirable (FMCG/Grocer/Ecommerce), but a broad range of backgrounds will be considered. Natural curiosity is prized above specialisation
You are an evangelist for agile/lean product development techniques, rapid prototyping and ‘getting out of the building’. You celebrate progress not perfection and move quickly
You will have a broad knowledge of technology – specialisation is less important than innate curiosity and a desire to build customer-centric solutions. Experience in content management platforms, structured/unstructured data systems desirable.
You have experience in transformation programmes – agile transformation programmes, system harmonisation and insourcing (from scratch) experience strongly desired. You are not intimidated by mess/chaos – in fact, you take a lot of energy from being the person that will clear it up
You are pragmatic and can make trade-offs between buy/build/partner – with associated budget management experience
You can ruthlessly prioritise and bring focus
You are highly commercially literate. You can budget, forecast, sell – when necessary – you are the commercial heart of the product and know its inner workings by heart
