Our Media Team Leader offers some words of wisdom on Recruiting into the digital Sphere
I was recently offered the chance to head up the media team here at Xcede. I naturally jumped at this opportunity as it consisted of joining a business with true heritage and an enviable client list.
Before Xcede I have been working in the recruitment industry for over a decade and I have noticed many changes and consistent development within the Digital industry. Tablets and idevices still serve as the norm along with social media and other features, such as cloud hosting. All these aspects continue to pioneer how we share information with one another; as a result it is apparent that we have truly evolved into a digital generation. However, as much as the industry changes, grows and develops there are I believe 3 principles that never change in the recruitment industry and these are;
1) Having a thorough understanding of your client’s goals and objectives
2) Delivering on your promises
3) Ensuring you are at the forefront in identifying relevant and upcoming talent.
With Xcede I have been able to continue working to these principles whilst managing a talented team who look after SEO and display with my own focus on PPC (Pay Per Click).
The initial six weeks have been an experience which I can only describe as a baptism of fire. Consisting of a steep learning curve, a hot bed of CV’s, client meetings and a workload which has stretched me like never before, I have truly learnt a lot over this period of time. Overall, I can confidently say I have experienced hands on an industry which is truly buzzing and as candidate driven as I have ever encountered in my life.
Candidates who can display a working knowledge of bid management and tracking with an understanding of analytics alongside an honest and hardworking approach are in high demand. This has been previously demonstrated by candidates being able to pick and choose their next role, with multiple clients offering at the same time.
Consequently, clients must have an open approach when it comes to attracting talent. They must be able to work with us in order for us to truly understand their culture and process, which always becomes a deciding factor in presenting roles to candidates. Portraying honest feedback allows us to add value to the process which is important as clients are selling the roles and the benefits of joining them now are better than they ever have been before. It is therefore vital to react quickly in order to get the key skill sets needed. As an example, I have placed seven people within the past ten weeks.
I am currently working with some exceptional clients who I believe are truly pioneering the landscape. We are able to really add value to our clients and candidates in presenting unique opportunities to carve out careers in the space. Therefore whilst PPC means “Pay Per Click”, I personally prefer the term to mean “People Power Companies”.
