As we once again enter the season for hiring graduates we at Xcede are gearing up for the interview days that we use to identify Graduate talent for our recruitment business.
We use multiple candidate attraction strategies to draw the best of the active graduate market to our west end offices, culminating in the arrival of several groups of between 8 and 12 candidates per day keen to impress with their desire for a career in a high growth, high impact role.
We look for individuals with a mixture of academic achievements, entrepreneurialism and ambition that can be combined with confidence and empathy in to the heady mix that makes a successful recruiter.
We run a number of tests to examine academic skills and communication skills, including presentations; group exercises and one to one interviews.
It is striking that certain graduates have not considered the impact that their presentations make to us, and often the lack of basic articulation, comprehension or numeracy will see the candidate numbers dwindle as the day progresses.
Key factors in a successful presentation are
1. Evidence of preparation around the subject area
2. Clear and concise delivery
4. Be honest
Actions to avoid
1. Looking at the floor
4. Implying sales skills from non-sales jobs – ie bar work
Successful applicants join us and embark on our four month induction programme designed to provide the core skills required to succeed in our highly focussed niche markets. Central to our business model are our core beliefs of delivering value and quality to our clients and a broad range of opportunities to our candidates.
In this era of social recruitment tools and internal recruitment teams, we pride ourselves on the continued demand for our services, driven by the focus of our market position and the value we bring to the recruitment process.
