Scott explores the current european technology market.
As technology has become increasingly prominent in almost every sector, it has become apparent that there is a shortage of technical professionals coupled with a growing skills gap. London’s traditional background in the financial sector, the growth of East London’s Tech City and our love of advertising means there is ample opportunities for Developers to seek exciting, innovative and well-paid work.
A real sense of community seems to be budding within the Front End world. Meet-Ups in London occur frequently and include thought-provoking talks from industry leaders, technology tutorials from specialists and bundles of pizza and beer! Meet-Ups including Front End London, AngularJS London & LDN Sass, attended by professionals at every experience level are often held at the offices of the most innovative tech brands the city has to offer.
There isn’t a better place in the world right now for finding tech opportunities. London is the capital of Europe's tech scene, with almost three times as many start-ups choosing the capital than those in the next-most attractive city, Paris.
In the first quarter of 2015, investors pumped a record-breaking £459 million of venture capital into the city’s digital sector which currently accounts for almost 200,000 jobs, 3.5% of London’s total workforce. Research by Oxford Economics shows over the next ten years this figure is expected to have increased by 46,000 more digital jobs in London.
Since 2010, more than £3 billion has been invested within digital technology (measured in constant 2011 prices), with growth averaging more than 7.5% a year (Source EY). At Xcede our growing tech desk reflects the current demanding and fast paced market.
The need for constant development and daily tech advancements means we expect London’s traditional background within technology to not only improve but to lead at the cutting-edge.
