In Xcede HQ we noticed our SEO desk headed up by Sales Manager Julian Vecchio has been buzzing with activity, so we managed to catch him in a brief moment of solitude to ask him for an update on what is happening in his market, here is what he told us…
“Currently there is a huge demand for SEO’s, with both agency and In-house teams screaming out for talented professionals.
Currently I have 37 roles within SEO with a much broader range of skills being required than before, these skills include:
• Advanced Link building techniques including:
o Authority Domains
o Link Acquisition
o Links from partner sites and suppliers
o Link Bait
o Widgets and Infographics
o Bloggers Outreach
• Multi-lingual SEO / content skills
• Large SEO client handling skills
• SEO Evangelism (particularly client side)
• Technical on page SEO’s
Despite a huge number of companies building in-house teams, there is still a much higher demand for agency SEO workers. The increase in Client side SEO roles has meant lots of opportunity for SEO’s however I do find myself turning down a number of these on the basis of them not being committed to SEO. The “good” client side roles are few and far between, ones where a company invests in digital (PPC, Social, Web Analytics, Affiliate, IA/UX) and not SEO as a standalone, or as I call it “The Internet geek in the corner” role.
Currently I have 8 Client side SEO roles and 29 within agencies, I would be very keen to understand your thoughts on a new role within SEO for yourself, or maybe you could recommend a friend?
