Our very own Hollie talks about life after her 10 week training and getting her first placement in digital recruitment
Having completed my 10 week training programme (aka Recruiter Hub) I made my first placement within 2 weeks from working on my desk recruiting for the PPC (pay per click) market.
Our 10 week training programme consisted of spending our mornings in the classroom based recruiter hub being taught vital skills and then spending the duration of the day putting these into practice.
There were a variety of different skills that I learnt from Recruiter Hub which enabled me to secure this placement. One specific skill that I acquired from training, which I drew from heavily in this particular instance, is something that Xcede as a company “excel” at and this is the importance of relationship building with both a candidate and client.
It was very easy to build up a strong and positive relationship with the candidate I was working with, mainly due to the fact that he was so receptive to all advice and feedback. His passion for PPC was evident throughout; I have noticed that when working within this market, PPC professionals are very open to conversations regarding their career and the current market trends.
The relationship I built up with both the candidate and client meant that the process was relatively smooth in comparison to some of the others I have heard of. I stayed in close contact with my candidate at all times, both to guide him through the process and to develop a good working relationship. This was also mirrored with the client, as thankfully we have a legacy relationship with them. I was glad that I was able to uphold Xcede’s reputation on delivering.
Within this process I received help and support from both the Media team and senior management. In terms of securing future placements I would go through the same procedure of talking through the process with my superiors and asking questions about any areas I was unsure of.
Moving forward I am keen to work more so on my own, using my initiative and trusting my knowledge that I gained through training. I know that I will always have the support of my superiors which makes me more confident in moving forward.
After learning the whole recruitment cycle in training it has been really interesting and beneficial for me to see the process from start to finish being put in practise. Having my first success has giving me a much clearer perspective of the importance of all the different steps involved within recruitment and I now have a much better understanding of how it all ties together. I can only hope to build on this tenfold for the future.
Hollie is not one to blow her own trumpet so we will do it for her, so see below some feedback from her first placement candidate…
Hollie was amazing to work with, she's extremely friendly and proactive in her approach to helping her applicants succeed. She was always available to talk through any concerns or issues I had, and was able to get me in front of employers within a week of being introduced to her, and gave me thorough briefings on who I was meeting.
My primary source of enjoyment came from the simplicity of the process. Xcede and Hollie took care to find exactly what I was looking for, so I could focus on preparing myself. They remove a big part of the stress of job hunting.
I honestly can say that the only thing I would have like to have done differently was to get in touch with Hollie and Xcede sooner. There is nothing about the process of working with them that I would have changed, Hollie and everyone I met at Xcede are a wonderful, helpful bunch of people and I'd go out of my way to work with them again.
